Follow the steps below to program JVC and Kenwood radios when installing the AXSWC.
- Locate the main connector on the back of the radio (Figure A).
NOTE
These radios use an ISO/EURO (1784 shell) radio connector. (Figure A)
- The SWC wire from the radio can be found in the bundle of wires above the main connector, labeled REMOTE CONT. (Figure B)
WARNING
This installation will require a 10k ohm ¼ watt resistor (sold separately). (Figure C)
Installation Instructions
- Connect one end of the resistor to the Blue/Yellow wire from the radio.
- Connect the other end of the resistor to the Brown wire from the 3.5mm adapter included with the AXSWC (Figure A).
- Proceed with programing the steering wheel controls according to the vehicle specific instructions.
- Once the AXSWC interface indicates the correct radio is programmed (5 LED flashes), remove the resistor.
- Reconnect the Blue/Yellow and Brown wires without the resistor in place (Figure B).
- Test the steering wheel controls for proper functionality.
The installation is complete.
Manual Programming
- Program the interface to the vehicle following the vehicle specific instructions.
- Turn the radio off.
- Cycle the key off, then back on.
- Wait until the interface’s light flashes Green once, then goes out.
- Press and hold the Volume Down button on the steering wheel.
- Hold Volume Down until the interface’s LED turns solid Red, then release.
- The LED will then go out indicating that the interface is now in Changing Radio Type mode.
- Press and hold the Volume Up button on the steering wheel until the interface’s light turns solid Red, then release.
Radio 1 has been programmed.
NOTE
Repeat this step four additional times (total of five).
- Press and hold the Volume Down button on the steering wheel until the interface’s light turns solid Red. The light will remain solid Red for 3 seconds while it stores the new radio information.
- After the LED goes out, turn the radio on and test the steering control wheel controls.
The installation is complete.
